What is Windsurf?

Windsurf, the AI IDE formerly known as Codeium, became Devin Desktop on June 2, 2026 via an over-the-air update. It is the same editor (extensions, keybindings, workflows are backwards-compatible with Windsurf and VS Code) with a new default Agent Command Center for managing local and cloud agents. Devin Local replaced Cascade as the main local agent.
